CMA trainee

Nursing Department

An opportunity awaits for a currently certified nursing assistant. Preferrably a candidate has worked full time as a CNA for 6 months. Our House will pay for a CNA to go to classes and clinicals in preparation to sit for CMA exam.
General Information
A CMA at Our House is responsible for administering medication, assisting residents with activities of daily living, coordinating care and appointments and advocating for resident’s needs. CMAs work as a team with other clinical staff to manage symptoms and behaviors in our diverse population affected by HIV and other co-occurring conditions such as liver disease, diabetes, mental illness and substance use.
  • Open to working with mental illness, substance use and emotional health challenges
  • Willingness to work within a model emphasizing harm reduction, community, self-determination and non-violent communication
  • Skills in organization, prioritization, initiation, verbal communication and collaboration
  • Compassionate with strong boundaries
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • CPR certified
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds

Join our multi-disciplinary team of nursing, OT and SW speaking the language of non-violent communication and harm reduction to care for people living with HIV disease. Expectations include commitment to working at Our House after CMA course completion for at least 2 years.
