Oregon History and Cuisine

Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to look at select materials from the Oregon Historical Society’s LGBTQ collections. For this event only, OHS will display materials that have come via the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest. Included will be photographs of community events, ephemera from local organizations, and personal archives of community members. OHS Library Director Geoff Wexler will talk about what’s in the display, and you’ll also have time to explore the entire museum after it has closed for the evening, with Oregon Historical Quarterly Editor Eliza Canty-Jones on-hand to answer questions. Sip on Oregon wines and enjoy a beautiful Oregon-inspired dinner by Rachel & the Hot Stove Catering, using locally-sourced ingredients that celebrate our state’s heritage.

AIDS Quilt Displayed at Aurora Historical Museum
Sections of the internationally celebrated AIDS Memorial Quilt – the 54-ton, handmade tapestry that stands as a memorial to more than 96,000 individuals lost to AIDS – will be on view from Oct.14, 2016 at the Aurora Presbyterian Church in Aurora. This free display of The AIDS Memorial Quilt is being hosted by the Old Aurora Colony Museum Quilt Show and the Aurora Presbyterian Church. Visitors may attend to view the quilt from Oct. 14- Oct.23 from 10 am to 4 pm weekdays and Saturdays, and from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sundays.
