History
Esther’s Pantry was founded in 1985 to provide financially challenged individuals living with HIV/AIDS access to food and personal care items. The pantry was named in memory of Chester "Esther" Brinker, one of the first people in Portland to die of complications from AIDS.
For over eighteen years Esther’s has provided food and personal care items to thousands of people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Our House recognizes the need to provide this food bank service and is fully committed to ensuring the continuation of the pantry.
The Pantry serves between 150 to 200 clients a month with groceries and personal care items. Open to clients every Tuesday and Thursday, the pantry is unique in that it allows clients to select the food they want from well-stocked shelves rather than being handed a pre-packed box of food.

The space for Esther's Pantry in Milwaukie is generously donated by Providence Health System.
