Our House Nursing Department
RN's,CNA's, CMA's
The staff, comprised of Registered Nurses, Certified Medication Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants, is a dynamic and passionate group dedicated to caring for those with HIV/AIDS. The nursing staff provides around the clock care managing medications and treatments, advocating for residents, assessing and evaluating care as well as assisting with daily tasks. In addition to HIV expertise the nursing staff bring to their work a variety of experience including pediatric, oncology, addiction, psychiatric and infusion. Two RNs (KJo Siess and Kim Hutchinson) have achieved Certification in AIDS Care.
Kim Hutchinson, RN, MSN
Director of Nursing & Caregiving Operations
Kim received her undergraduate degree is Exercise Science at the University of Iowa and achieved a master's degree in Nursing from San Francisco State University, specializing in education. Kim has 15 years of nursing experience; 11 years of which has been working exclusively with HIV/AIDS. She has worked at Our House since 2000, becoming the Director of Nursing Services and Care Giver Operations in 2002. Kim received her AIDS Certified RN along with 2 co-workers in 2004. Kim has been on the board of the local Portland Cascade Chapter of ANAC (Association of Nurses in AIDS Care)for the past 3 years. Kim also is a proud mother of 2 children ages 5 and 9.
Kristin Riley, MSW, LCSW
Director of Social Services
Ms. Riley´s educational background includes a BA in Sociology/African American Studies and a Masters of Social Work. Her professional employment has been primarily in the field of mental health, specifically case management and crisis intervention with individuals with severe mental illness/personality disorder. Social work responsibilities at Our House of Portland generally include: admission/intake, counseling of end-of-life issues/spiritual needs, coordination of necessary community services, ongoing psychosocial assessment, assistance with finances/benefits, counseling with families/follow-up, and discharge planning.
Robert Lusk, M.D.
Medical Director
A native of Texas, Dr. Lusk received his medical education and performed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston. He moved to Oregon and completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Oregon Health Sciences University. He practiced in Salem for eight years before joining Providence Health System. While in Salem, he served as medical director for the Willamette Valley Hospice and spent the last three years establishing a hospitalist program at Salem Hospital. His clinical interests include HIV care and hospital medicine. He also serves as Providence Milwaukie Hospital epidemiologist and is a partner in Infection Consultants, LLP.
Joe Doherty, MSW, LCSW
Mental Health Consultant
Joseph E. Doherty, MSW, LCSW is a psychotherapist, educator, clinical supervisor and consultant with 25 years clinical experience in the mental health field. He received his B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and his Masters in Clinical Social Work from Smith College. He was clinically trained at McLean Hospital, a Harvard University teaching facility. He is past clinical director of Phoenix Rising?s counseling services. He was the coordinator of HIV and Sexual Minority Services at Network Behavioral Health. He founded and has maintained a private practice in Portland for 11 years specializing in the treatment of adults with PTSD, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Minority Issues and Gender Issues.
Kristy Fleming, OTR/L
Director of Occupational Therapy
Kristy has a Bachelors degree in Health and Human Performance with a focus in Athletic Training from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. In 2005, she completed her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Kristy brings 15 years experience working in health care, health promotion and prevention. She has had the privilege of working with various diverse populations with a focus on health and health care. Kristy has been with Our House for 3 years, primarily working with clients in the community who are involved in the Neighborhood Housing and Care Program (NHCP), in addition she has recently accepted a position as our Director of Occupational Therapy.
