Volunteers have always been an essential part of the diverse Our House community.  They contribute thousands of service hours cooking, gardening, doing facility maintenance and providing companionship to our residents and clients.  Contact our volunteer program staff to learn about current opportunities in our many programs and how you can become part of our team!

Volunteer Opportunities

 

Kitchen Helper

Kitchen Helpers assist with various prep work, serving & passing out meals, deep cleaning projects & organizing the kitchen. They will also be involved gathering daily menu selections from residents, providing crucial resident social interaction.  Additional duties include preparing the snack tray, rolling silverware for the next meal, & any other tasks needed to keep our kitchen running smoothly and our residents happy.

 

Esther’s Pantry & Tod’s Corner Volunteer

Esther’s Pantry and Tod’s Corner allow folks to “shop” for free to provide necessities for their homes and families. You’ll patiently assist individuals living with HIV select what they need from our shelves. Should be able to lift 50 pounds. Spanish-speakers highly desired.

 

Garden Volunteer (Seasonal)

Are you a green-thumb? Help contribute your skills to our community garden alongside our residents! If you’re a compassionate, warm-hearted soul who believes in the therapeutic nature of gardening, you’re perfect for this role!

 

Licensed Body Worker

Contribute your skills and your positive, encouraging spirit to benefit our residents and clients to relieve pain and anxiety! Must be licensed in the state of Oregon.

 

Medical Appointment Companion (On-Call)

Our residents sometimes need a companion when they go to doctor appointments. Contribute your patience and organizational skills to keep patients focused, organized, and punctual on medical transport. This is an on-call volunteer position, so the schedule will vary based on patients’ appointments, as well as the duration of the treatment and transportation.

 

Receptionist

If you’re a warm and engaging person capable of working on your own, we need you for this role! There are phone calls to be answered and visitors to be received at our front desk. You’ll be the face of our organization as you interact with incoming residents, clients, staff, and volunteers.

 

Therapy Animal Volunteer

Do you have a certified therapy animal? Our residents could use a cuddle or two - or even a stroll with you and your animal outside! (Note: For the safety of our immune-suppressed residents, we do not allow cats in the building).

 

 

*A criminal history check is required for all volunteers.
