On-call Caregiver or CNA

Overview
Our House is looking for an experienced Caregiver or CNA to work on-call in our residential program.
General Information
Caregivers and CNAs are responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, coordinating care and appointments, arranging transportation, advocating for resident's needs, offering emotional support, laundry, and housekeeping. Experience working with HIV, mental health, or in a residential care setting is helpful. Extensive training and support are provided, including monthly in-services.
Qualifications

Minimum of six months experience as a Caregiver or CNA in a facility setting or currently enrolled in a nursing program

Ability to pass a DHS background check

Two verifiable employment-related references

CPR certified or the ability to become so

Must be responsible, dependable, flexible, possess good communication skills, warmth, and humor

Motivated to work with individuals with HIV who require all levels of care

Willingness to work with persons with physical and emotional health challenges

Willingness to work within a harm reduction model of care

Ability to teach and empower residents toward self-care and independence

Knowledge of infection control, universal precautions, transfer techniques, and body mechanics

Ability to stand for extended periods of time and to lift, push, carry and pull moderate amounts of weight
Misc
Shifts available are on-call, filling in occasionally for regularly scheduled staff vacations and sick calls. Hours and work days will vary depending upon availability. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and holidays, is required.
